A crack in the ice

A young Inuit boy is ice fishing on his own, determined to prove himself.

After miraculously catching the moon he is confronted with the dilemma of keeping the moon to himself or sharing it with the world.

This was my third year film at the Bezalel academy of arts and design.

The project

The class was instructed to write an adaptation of a fairytale or a short storyOut of the nine candidates three were chosen.

Ron Nadel wrote the screenplay for this short film, he based it on an old eastern European Jewish folktale.

The film was showcased that year at the school's yearly graduates' exhibition even though it was a third year project.

My role in the project

I served as director, storyboard artist, modeler (all of the 3D assets), assistant technical director, and lead animator (80% of the film's animation).

What I learned

I learned how to edit a short film and how to plan out an animatic, amongst many other things.

I also gained experience in character animation.
